LYMM’S under 14s will clash with some of the country’s top sides in 2014 after clinching a host of honours in the last calendar year.

The squad scooped their fifth Cheshire Junior Cup title, won the Anglo Scottish Cup and beat the London Irish Academy.

The club already has a number of area games planned against top teams from Lancashire, Yorkshire, North Midlands and East Midlands.

Nick Hughes, head coach said: “One of the pleasing features of this group of players is that a very high percentage of the squad have been together through the mini rugby age grades and mainly from local schools within the Lymm catchment.”

The side have already defeated local under 14s rivals Altrincham Kersal, Manchester, Caldy, Sandbach, Winnington Park, Bowdon, Wilmslow and Macclesfield this season.

Following their county cup victory, they won 24-0 against Heriot’s FP, one of top youth rugby clubs in Scotland producing players such as Andy Irvine – ex-British Lion and tour manager to Australia in 2013.

The Scottish club presented Lymm with a Highland Quaich for winning the Anglo Scottish Cup.

They secured a 9-7 victory against London Irish Academy and were presented a pro club jersey signed by club captain Tomas O’Leary.

Lymm under 14s players have represented Cheshire sides in both Central and East Districts and the side finish 2013 in style, defeating unbeaten Wrexham 38-0.
