Firswood Waterloo 2nd 30
Warrington 2nd 21
WARRINGTON failed to overcome an 18-point deficit despite mounting a second half comeback.
The loss keeps them in promotion contention, three points behind Lymm in second.
“An 18-point deficit is a hard mountain to climb but I was very pleased at the way the lads knuckled down to it,” said captain Paul Thompson.
A Waterloo penalty was followed by three tries before half time. Warrington struck when Tom Arnold collected a loose pass and raced 40 yards, Andy Almond converting.
The full back then finished off a move involving all the three-quarters, converting his own try.
Waterloo scored an unconverted try, before Paul Thompson slipped in Charlie McIlroy.
However, Waterloo closed proceedings with a converted try five minutes from time.
