Grappenhall Sports 2 Warrington Town Reserves 1

GRAPPENHALL Sports came out victorious in the ‘derby’ with Warrington Town Reserves on Saturday thanks to a late goal from super sub Ranny Dhwahli.

Dhwali’s 81st minute winner sends Sports into the new year with three wins on the bounce after Ryan Crawford had earlier opened the scoring.

Boss Darren Davies was delighted to continue his side’s recent form.

"We were all up for it,” he said. “There's nothing better than a ‘derby’ against Town and both sides had hit some form.

“It was a close game and delighted we got the points. We worked hard from the first whistle and we kept our shape and concentration throughout the 90 minutes.

“To a man everyone was superb. The spirit among the players and the competition for places is where we want it to be. I'm thrilled to end 2013 with three wins on the bounce.”

The hosts took the lead when Dan Sisson’s header dropped for Crawford to volley home from eight yards.

Town levelled when a deflected 25-yard drive flew in, before Sisson nodded narrowly over.

However, with nine minutes remaining Dhwahli’s low drive from the edge of the box clinched Sports all three points.
