Warrington Campus 3rd 1
UCLAN Padgate 0

SUBSTITUTE Theo Logan’s second half strike ensured Warrington opened their BUCS campaign with a win against UCLAN at Padgate.

The 19-year-old came off the bench to score the only goal and seal three points for Warrington campus’ third team.

Dan Broome had a golden opportunity to open the scoring for the hosts, but lost his footing and failed to convert a tap-in from six yards.

Debutant Richard Pursehouse saw his free kick from distance graze the top of the crossbar and, despite several chances, Warrington failed to get the better of Atkinson before the break.

UCLAN started brightly after the interval, when it was the turn of Warrington goalkeeper Kristn Higson to deny opposing striker Tom Shaw’s effort.

However, with 20 minutes left Logan reacted quickest after static defending to finish confidently.

The visitors poured forward in search of an equaliser, but it was Warrington’s Adam Dorken who had the next big chance when his shot was parried away by the impressive Atinkinson.

Further heroics from Higson denied Shaw the opportunity of an equaliser, before the same player hit the post as the Padgate-based outfit struggled to keep their UCLAN visitors at bay.
