AN Appleton Tigers team missing five key players due to exams battled through the wet weather to run Chester close in the Cheshire Women’s League.
Annie Rashid, 47 not out, batted superbly in difficult conditions with solid support from Debbie Kingston and Sami Fowler to get Appleton to 74 for 8.
Rashid got an early wicket to give the Tigers hope, but despite accurate bowling from Nat Long and Jen Regan as well as committed fielding, Chester reached their target with three overs to spare.
n APPLETON men’s second string achieved a 57-run win against Wistaston in Cheshire Alliance Division Three.
