Need for new housing plan at station

A GRAND scheme to knock down Rushgreen Filling Station and replace it with old people's flats should be replaced in favour of affordable housing according to a Lymm councillor.

Planners turned down the scheme to create 53 sheltered accommodation apartments by developers McCarthy and Stone.

Now Clr Sheila Woodyatt says she wants developers to come back with an improved scheme that includes affordable housing for first time buyers.

She said: "If the business is no longer viable it is better for something to be built there than to leave it empty.

"But the proposals were totally over bearing being so close to Lymm village centre and the green belt. I much they propose something we can support as local residents."
