THIS is the artist who has brought Alice in Wonderland's author into the spotlight.

To celebrate the 175th anniversary of the birth of Lewis Carroll in Daresbury, artist Christine Wilcox-Baker created this abstract exhibit.

Made from 2,000 ears of corn individually hung, the artwork was inspired by a poem penned by the late writer in 1860, describing Daresbury Church where he was baptised.

Mrs Wilcox-Baker said: "Normally, only the major galleries have the space to exhibit work of this scale. This is a great opportunity for me and for local people who may not have the chance to visit city-centre museums."

The Lewis Carroll art exhibition was on display until Tuesday.

* There is nothing like a birthday cake to celebrate an important birthday.

And that was just what the Lewis Carroll Society did when they celebrated the author's 175th anniversary last Sunday at the Park Royal Hotel, Stretton.

After a birthday lunch the society cut the author's birthday cake.
