PADGATE pupils met the faces of many heroic figures within our community, as they took part in Walking with Heroes.

Last Thursday, PCSO Shevlin and PCSO Potter teamed up with Cheshire Fire and the 75 Engineer Regiment to attend the event at Brook Acre Primary School.

Awestruck pupils of year five and six had the opportunity to speak to their heroes and learn about their roles during a walk around Padgate.

In its sixth year running, the event not only breaks the barrier between children and these public services that are there to keep the community safe, but also raises awareness to the importance of road and water safety.

PCSO Shevlin said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed speaking to each professional and gained an invaluable insight into the roles and responsibilities of each officer in attendance.”

After a stroll around the area, the pupils were then given the exciting chance to take a look inside the fire engines used by Cheshire Fire and the army vehicles.

The initiative displayed how partnership works and how it can be beneficial to members of the local community, both young and old.
