WARRINGTON Borough Transport has written back to Penketh Parish Council to explain the withdrawal of the number 33 service and the re-routing of the number 31.

Its letter, read out at last week's parish council meeting, said: "Passenger rates had been disappointing for some time, especially service 33.

"Analysis showed almost every passenger could make their journey on another service. Therefore, we decided to withdraw the 33.

"We decided to re-reroute the 31 to protect the remaining Penketh network in the interests of the majority."
