AN inspirational eight-year-old from Stockton Heath is set to return to the scene where his dreams came true for another remarkable fundraising feat.

Ted McCaffery, who lives in Stockton Heath, had open heart surgery in May 2013 and earned a Pride of Britain award last year - but nothing has got in his way to raise money for Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

The Grange Primary School pupil was whisked away to Disneyland Paris with singer Olly Murs after receiving the award and he is set to return to the city for Cycle For Ted.

His mum Jo, aged 46, will cycle 400km from London to Paris on June 10 with five friends but Ted will be putting on his shorts to finish the last mile of the journey.

"He takes it all in his stride - who would have thought he would have achieved this in such a short time," said Jo.

"I am so proud of him, seeing him be so determined to help people is just fantastic."

But Jo admits big preparations are needed ahead of the trip to the French capital next month.

She added: "We are training four times a week and have done 1200 miles in training between us so far.

"I did not own a bike before Christmas and did not have an idea about cycling but we are training hard - to see Ted cross the line will be special."

Earlier this month he mixed it up with Mr Murs and comedian John Bishop at Alder Hey's charity ball, while just last Friday he presented awards to golfers at a Team Ted charity bash at Peckforton Castle, in Tarporley, after a long day at school.

But there is no rest for the remarkable youngster - on May 19 he will be doing a 3km walk at Knowsley Safari Park for the children's hospital.
