FUNDING has now been secured for a cricket pitch on Dakota Park which is expected to be ready in May orJune this year.
More than 50 residents attended a meeting held by Clr Faisal Rashid regarding the plans which had previously been part of the Chapelford masterplan.
Clr Rashid added: “I am proud to be able to give residents back what was promised to them and will continue to do that.
“I was surprised to see the pitch had been taken away without involving residents and I will continue to support outdoor sports to encourage a healthy generation.
“This is not just an achievement for the residents of Chapelford but for the whole ward as there is no cricket provision in the whole of Warrington West.”
He added there will be no overlap with the football season and he is in continuous talks with officers regarding the school’s changing rooms facilities.
