GREAT Sankey residents are being urged to ignore cold callers claiming they can lower council tax bands for a fee after a number of reports from residents in the area.
Senior officers at Warrington Borough Council are pointing out the fees are ‘pointless’ because any over-payments or re-banding issues can already be dealt with for free.
Homeowners can check if their property is in the wrong council tax band by calling the valuation office agency in Manchester on 03000 501501.
