DRESSED as a fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex, a councillor led dinosaur-themed celebrations in memory of Great Sankey youngster Cameron Mathieson.
Dinosaur Day is held on Cameron's birthday, June 19, to honour the five-year-old's short but significant life.
Cameron, who briefly attended Evelyn Street Primary, spent most of his life in Alder Hey Hospital with a rare combination of genetic conditions.
His parents made history when they challenged the law surrounding disabled children's benefit payments, which were stopped after a child spent more than 84 days in hospital.
They took their fight to the Supreme Court and won.
Cameron loved dinosaurs, which he called 'dowsers', and to mark the day Cllr Jean Carter, Warrington Borough Council's executive board member for children's services, welcomed more than 100 pupils to the town hall for a celebration.
Children learned about looking after people with disabilities before tucking into dinosaur cakes, playing around the town hall and releasing balloons on the steps.
