COUNCIL chiefs have reassured residents work on Cromwell Avenue in Great Sankey will increase traffic flow and create two lanes.

Motorists had raised concerns it appeared the carriageway was being reduced to one lane but a spokesman denied this was the case.

He added: “The bus lane is being removed as part of the scheme but the carriageway is being retained and will be open to all traffic at the end of the scheme.

“This is intended to increase capacity at the junction for all vehicles by providing two lanes for all traffic to approach the junction.”
