Kenyan fun day at Birchwood Shopping Centre

A KENYAN fun day is held at Birchwood Shopping Centre on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm, to fund a volunteering expedition to Africa this summer.

Eight Birchwood College students plan to carry out community work with poverty stricken families in outlying villages.

They will also participate in environmental and conservation projects as well as building much needed facilities.

They each need to raise £3,500 and have organised lots of charity events.

African drumming will be demonstrated during the fun day and there will be a chance for shoppers to join a workshop.

Shoppers can guess how many balloons can be squashed in a car.

Other attractions include home made cakes, temporary tattoos and music by local band, Conquer Rio.

Wolves mascot Wolfie will be making a guest appearance.

There will also be the chance to win a signed Warrington Wolves shirt, a free MOT, a cut and blow dry at Toni and Guy, meals at various local pubs and restaurants and a bottle of champagne.

The college is collecting unwanted clothes, shoes, football boots and textiles to turn into cash. Drop off your donations at reception.

So far 250kg of clothes has raised £122.50.
