A CULCHETH adventurer is to prove there ain't no mountain high enough for Girlguiding when she treks to Machu Picchu.

Justine Doyle, of Stonyhurst Crescent, will be travelling to the 15th century Inca site between October 18 and 25 in a bid to raise £4,000.

The 3rd Culcheth Guides leader is trekking to Machu Picchu, which is more than 4,200 meters high in the Andes with around 25 other Girlguiding members and supporters.

The challenging trek will take in the well known landmarks of Dead Women’s Pass and the Sun Gate.

Justine said: "The part of the trek I'm most looking forward to is reaching the top and seeing the views.

"I'm also really looking forward to talking to local people - my Spanish is pretty good although I'll be in trouble I meet a Peruvian who speaks the indigenous language of Quechua."

Justine decided to take on the challenge to show what Girlguiding has to offer.

Her three daughters Katy, aged 14, Isabelle, aged nine, and Georgia, aged seven, have all experienced and enjoyed opportunities through Girlguiding.

It is not Justine's first visit to Peru though.

She added: "I visited Peru on business several times when I worked for Vimto but didn’t have the opportunity to see Machu Picchu.

"The three day trek covering 26 miles will be the biggest challenge for me but I have no doubt that the sight at the end of it will make it all worthwhile.”

The money raised is expected to be put towards support so that 50 disabled girls and young women can attend a camp with their friends as part of Girlguiding's Fund for Members with Disabilities.
