A CULCHETH resident has issued a warning to youths tearing through the village on off-road motorbikes.

The stark warning has been given following a number of incidents concerning youths and the resident, which have involved the use of off-road motorbikes.

According to the resident, who will not be named, it is a common occurrence to see youngsters riding in and around the village on motorbikes - which he claims are uninsured and unregistered.

He said: "On a typical Friday evening in Culcheth, we are regularly treated to the sound of off-road bikes, being ridden illegally by balaclava-clad, teens dressed all in black and causing a general nuisance like little wannabe gangsters.

"This Friday was no different.

"As I walked through the Pack Horse car park, two youths were pushing their bike over the hump from the field onto the car park.

"Upon seeing me, clearly knowing they were up to no good, they decided to run away dumping the bike on the ground."

The resident says that two weeks ago he had a similar run-in with the youths, who nearly collided with him when they rode out of the Pack Horse's car park 'with no regard for anyone.'

After the youths abandoned their bike, the man said: "I can only assume that this was a gift for me, so I took it away and called the police who arranged to have it seized and collected."

Following this, the concerned resident wanted to raise the alarm with other villagers, as well as appeal to the parents of those involved.

He said: "To the parents of these youths: on what planet do you live?

"Do you think it is appropriate for your children to ride these bikes around the streets, illegally, with no registration, no insurance and most of the time no helmets?

"People around here are sick to death of your children, congregating on Shaw Street recreation ground, using the car park to perform doughnuts, burnouts and wheel spins in their cars, drinking alcohol, smashing bottles, littering and playing loud music until the early hours as if they own the place; with absolutely no regard for the residents and families in the area."

He added: "To the owners of the bike: the police have assured me that your precious little bike is in safe custody and that if you pop along to the station with your V5 document.

"You can prove it is yours and argue the case for its return."

Following handing over the motorbike to the police, the resident claims that a group of youths began searching for him.

He said: "To the large group of youths that were roaming the streets looking for me following this bike seizure, all dressed in black, masked up like little gangsters: you each look like you weigh seven stone wet through.

"You do not frighten me."

Before ending his warning, the resident said: "Your anti-social behaviour is not welcome here.

"You're from a little village on the outskirts of Warrington with mummy and daddy paying for all your luxuries."

He concluded with a final appeal to local parents: "Let's not forget that a teenager lost his life last summer on Holcroft Lane, and his friend was seriously injured.

"Are your kids doomed to repeat the same thing?"
