THE Bridge Inn pub in Burtonwood has been demolished after the building was deemed too dangerous to be left standing.
Council planners made the decision due to concerns over public safety.
This will come as a major blow to campaigners who had been fighting to have the pub on Phipps Lane turned into an asset of community value.
Neighbouring pub, the Elm Tree, could also follow a similar fate with the decision to demolish the public house to be announced soon.
It is understood the current owners of the plots of land plan to build residential housing on the sites if they are given the go ahead to knock down The Elm Tree but these plans have not been confirmed.
Let us know your views on the demolition of the Bridge Inn and the uncertain future of the Elm Tree or send in your photos of how the pubs have changed over the years.
