She’s hoping to conquer Kilimanjaro and inspire others
JESSICA Mather will put her best foot forward as she tests her strength and stamina in an attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in June.
The 22-year-old, who works at Arbury Court in Winwick, is facing the challenge of a lifetime to raise awareness of mental health and act as a role model for patients.
The sports and technical instructor hopes to inspire people and raise money for Young Minds.
Jessica said: “I work with women who often find it difficult to find motivation to be physically active on a daily basis.
“To be able to climb Kilimanjaro would inspire them as I am pushing my limits and would show with hard work and determination that you can reach goals you may never have thought you could achieve.”
Jessica will dust off her walking boots to take on the Lemosho route, which will involve a seven-day ascent to the summit.
Joy Chamberlain, group chief executive of Partnerships in Care, said: “In January we raised the Kilimanjaro opportunity with staff and received more than 40 applications.
“Jessica’s entry stood out through her clear passion and dedication to use the experience to help motivate others while obviously challenging herself.”
