A BURTONWOOD lifestyle and wedding photographer has opened the doors to her new studio – eight years after a serious car accident which forced her to re-evaluate her career prospects.

Teresa Cunningham, then aged 17, was knocked down on Chapel Lane in Burtonwood in 2005, leaving the former dance teacher with a fractured pelvis and broken lower sacrum.

The devastating accident left Teresa needing a wheelchair while she underwent therapy to get back on her feet.

As the 25-year-old, who spent eight weeks in hospital following the crash, had to learn to walk again, it left her with no choice but to put a stop to her dancing career.

But she soon found her new passion after getting a DSLR camera as a present for her 18th birthday.

After running her business for the past five years and completing her BA honours degree and PGCE in post compulsory education and training, Teresa has chosen to take the plunge and invest in a new home for her photographs.

She said “Choosing to open the studio was a big decision as it would affect the future of myself, my partner and my parents.

“Being 25 years old I am lucky enough to be at a time in my life where I can dream big and make it work with hard work and determination.”

Teresa has opened her new studio on the grounds of Knowsley Hall Estate.
