Culcheth Lions would like to announce that their annual Victorian Day event will be held on Saturday 27th November this year. This firmly established event is now very much part of the village calendar and this year promises to be bigger and more fun filled than ever!

Lions members, shopkeepers and residents alike will be dressing up in Victorian costume in celebration, so why not get in the swing and join us in the fun and festivities?

There will be food, mulled wine and hot chestnuts on sale on the Parade and there will be fairground attractions too. Christmas Fayres are being held in the Parish and Methodist Halls. Staff in the Sundial Terrace Coffee Shop will be dressing in traditional Victorian costume and have themed foods on sale. Look out for the flyer coming through your doors.

The Lions Club will be selling raffle tickets through November for their Christmas luxury hamper. The hamper draw raises funds for the Lions to help local good causes including our senior citizens’ Christmas party.

On the day, Santa will be enchanting children at the Methodist Church and later will be there for the switching on of the Christmas lights. The lights in the trees around the Village Green are provided by the Parish council, who are also expected to sponsor free rides on one of the children’s round-abouts. We are also pleased to announce that Alice In Wonderland will be attending again and adding her own special magic. The daytime events will end with a spectacular fireworks display (weather permitting) but the Lions hope the fun will continue into the evening with fairground rides in the village centre.

The Art Group’s exhibition in the Age Concern building starts on Thursday November 25th, and continues through to Victorian Day. Go along there for refreshments and to view and vote for your favourite pictures.

There is still time to contact the Lions if you want to help or take part in the event. Amateur street entertainers and strolling players are welcome to use the venue to develop their skills.
