OUGHTRINGTON Explorer Scouts have thanked Freemasons who are helping them be big in Japan this summer.
The group invited 87-year-old Freemason Gwilym T Jones to the Oughtrington Community Centre to say thank you for a donation of £250.
Warrington East District is sending three boys and two girl Scouts to the World Scout Jamboree to be held in Kirara-hama, Yamaguchi City, Japan, between July 28 and August 8.
Explorer Scout leader Andy Smith thanked Gwilym for the donation and revealed that his daughter 16-year-old Abi would be one of the English contingent.
Gwilym, who was first principal of the Earl of Chester Chapter No1565 in 2014, which meets at the Spread Eagle Hotel in Lymm, hosted a garden party at his home, which raised more than £600 for charities and good causes.
