TALENTED Alex Herriman is one step closer to his dream job after bagging a role in Grease The Musical at the Palace Theatre in Manchester.

The 14-year-old from Woolston will star in the 70s musical on August 8, 9 and 10 where he will dance and sing along to some of Grease’s biggest hits.

Alex’s mum, Caroyn Herriman, is not surprised her son wants to pursue a career in musical theatre as he has never stopped dancing since he could stand on his own two feet.

Caroyn said: “I always knew he was going to do something theatrical. When he’s not at school he is always singing and dancing.”

The Birchwood Community High School pupil attends StagePro Academy in Warrington where he has dance classes every night of the week.

Caroyn said: “He loves to dance - always has. I can’t wait to see him on stage in the summer.”

This is not Alex’s first time on the stage. In 2010 he performed in the hit musical Guys and Doll as well as starring in Annie in 2012.

Grease The Musical is organised by The Stage Experience Outreach programme which is specifically designed to get young people on the stage and give them the chance to perform in a professional environment.

Alex, who distributes the Warrington Guardian every Thursday, is estatic about the opportunity.

Caroyn said: “He can’t wait to get on stage. Rehearsals start on July 29 so he is looking forward to learning the routines.”
