THE uncertainty that has enveloped national politics is being mirrored here in Warrington.

Just as no decision has been taken on who will rule the country, residents in town are waiting to see how the new Town Hall will be won.

Labour won most seats in Thursday's local elections but fell short of an overall majority.

But if the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives keep their alliance, they will retain control of the council.

The six Tory councillors met yesterday, Monday, and are expected to meet again later this week.

Clr Keith Bland, Tory leader, said: "There has been no decision yet.

"I will be talking to Ian Marks too."

A decision is expected before Monday's full council meeting.

Meanwhile Labour leader Clr Terry O'Neill has ruled out a joint administration and will hope to put forward an executive board on Monday.
