A GRAPPENHALL businessman has started a crowdfunding project to help people who are inexperienced with computers.

Chris Shields, 27, set up IT's Fun in December last year with the intention of approaching homes and businesses but he is now looking into training those at elderly care homes and schools.

It will run alongside his CStech IT Services firm.

The father-of-three said: "I know most of IT is taught quite late in school – I want to try and provide a basic approach to it and make it fun."

Although the company primarily deals in Warrington, Chris confirmed he is hoping to expand it further afield.

"I'd like to take it to a national level within the public schooling sector," he said.

"My dream would be to have all the materials and equipment to provide this service and share my knowledge with everyone who needs it.

"If it's completing school projects on Word, utilising the internet for research, or providing workshops to train with particular programmes, that's the avenue I'm hoping to go down.

"Not many schools queue in to IT so I feel this would be very beneficial to children and adults to pick up some skills."

However, the company has received little luck from the crowdfunding so far.

"It's really disheartening," added Chris.

"I tried advertising to people through Facebook but was blocked, so the only form of advertising we have is through the website.

"I will be printing some flyers next week to help, I will distribute these throughout Warrington on foot.

"I am willing to put the hard work in to get results and I want to make it a reality."

Chris said he is also looking to target after school and holiday clubs.
