A FAMILY are calling on Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) to move them into a new home after months of misery caused by mice.
Adam Howard and his family have been sharing their flat on Grasmere with mice who have been chewing through his property since last October.
He said: “The flat stinks. I’m spending so much money on cleaning products.”
The property is so bad his four-year-old daughter Kelly is scared to stay in the flat and had been spending time with her grandmother in Bootle.
But she has now died, leaving the terrified toddler with no respite.
They say their home is littered with droppings and nesting mice were uncovered in the dining room and cooker.
Pest control officers have come out and laid down poison to tackle the mice and GGHT have sealed off holes around the external part of the property.
But Adam says the mice are living inside and continue to cause problems.
“They said the mice are living in the outer parts of our flat. But I moved my fridge last weekend and found two dead mice,” he added.
A spokesman for GGHT said: “We have been working to resolve the issue of rodents in this property. Staff visited with the council’s senior environmental warden on March 9 and took immediate steps to close up a number of holes. A further visit was made but we were unable to gain access. The tenant has not re-booked this appointment.
“Given the steps taken to resolve the issue the property has not been declared uninhabitable. Re-housing has also not been refused.”
