POP mogul Pete Waterman has paid tribute to Whitney Houston, found dead in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The Moore resident first met the singer at a concert in the same city in the 1980s when he was working with Newton-le-Willows born star, Rick Astley.
Speaking on Sunday, the record producer described her as an 'icon' who had 'one of the greatest voices of all time'.
Whitney Houston was found dead in the bath of her hotel room in California on Saturday night.
She was in town ahead of Sunday's Grammy awards.
