A GROUP of green volunteers in Lymm have received £47,000 to reduce energy bills in the area.

Low Carbon Lymm has been awarded the Government funding from the Local Energy Assessment Fund. And the money will pay for an extensive programme of community engagement, energy profiling and energy efficiency surveys in and around Lymm.

The group is looking for 250 homes in the Lymm area (postcode WA13) to receive a free home survey from a qualified assessor.

Richard Pearce, chairman of Low Carbon Lymm, said: “There was very strong competition for this funding so we are delighted to have been successful.

“The project is a great opportunity for Lymm and we are committed to sharing the results and lessons learnt.

“The project provides a firm basis for developing and implementing Low Carbon Lymm’s future plans that aim to make Lymm an exemplar of sustainable, low carbon living. ”

Anyone selected will welcome a qualified assessor who will perform a survey in each room.

A report is then prepared giving recommendations to homeowners in how to cut bills and achieve savings.

In addition to the home assessments, 20 small businesses and 10 community buildings will be surveyed as part of the project.

The results will be presented at an event to be held in March this year.

This project is being completed in partnership between Low Carbon Lymm, Energy Projects Plus, CB3 Design Limited, Property Inspection Limited and Warrington Borough Council.
