IT was big hugs all round for one Great Sankey tot after she came to her mum’s rescue.

Mum-of-two Loretta Addison suffered an epileptic fit in her Payne Close home but woke up to find her five-year-old daughter had called for an ambulance and was comforting her three-month-old sister Sophia.

Old Hall Primary School pupil Elleemae is now in line for a bravery award after impressing the paramedics and police officers who she let into her home.

Proud mum Loretta, aged 24, said: “I blacked out and don’t know what happened until a police officer was waking me up.

“The paramedics had a lot of equipment because they didn’t know if I would need to be resuscitated.

“It looked scary so she was very brave and took it all in her stride.

“Everyone was very impressed.”

Loretta, who was diagnosed with epilepsy four years ago, said it was lucky her daughter had been off school ill as the fit struck quickly last Tuesday morning.

Loretta, who got engaged to Ellemae’s dad Mark Isherwood, aged 26, on Christmas Day, added that the youngster thinks her actions were ‘normal’.

She said: “I told her she had done well and she just said ‘yeah, alright’.

“I had told her in the past if I had a fit she should dial 999 and she must have remembered.

“Police told me she was crying on the phone but when they told her I was ok she started showing them her toys.

“I had to go to the hospital but when I got home I gave her a big hug and I’ve taken her roller skating as a treat.”

PC Claire Dolan was first at the scene.

She said: “I met Ellemae at the door and she had the telephone in her hand.

“I could see she was upset, but calm enough to tell me what happened.

“Elleemae grabbed my hand and led me up the stairs to where her mum was lying.

“I think she is amazing and showed great common sense and courage.”
