WOMEN have been warned to be vigilant after a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Padgate.

She was walking along Green Lane between 8pm and 9pm on Thursday evening.

As the teenager reached a gate that leads to Woolston Linear Park, a man grabbed her.

He swung her round to face him and then assaulted the teenager.

The victim struggled and managed to break free before running away. She was followed by her attacker for a short distance before he stopped.

PC Charlotte Higgins said: “Thankfully incidents such as this are rare, but we would like to remind women to be extra vigilant.”

The man is described as white, in his late teens with dark shaven hair.

He was thin, had a sharp nose and stubble on his cheeks.

His clothes included a Helly Hansen coat with a fluorescent white ‘H’ emblem on the chest, grey jogging bottoms and he smelt of smoke.

Anyone with information can call PC Higgins at Risley police station on 101 quoting incident number 996 of January 5.
