A PUB supervisor has been axed by the council for continuously annoying neighbours with loud music.

Residents who live close to the Hermit Inn, based on Hermitage Green Lane in Hollins Green, complained on numerous occasions over the summer because of excessive noise. Despite contact from the council problems with loud music persisted, and the case was taken to the licensing committee on October 15.

Supervisor Andrew Case was subsequently removed for breach of licensing conditions relating to a failure to prevent public nuisance.

The license of the pub has also changed so that live music can only be played until 11pm instead of midnight, and a volume control will be fitted at the premises.

Clr Mike Biggin, executive board member for public protection, said: “Taking cases to the licensing committee is a last resort and we will always try to resolve problems in other ways where possible.

“However, the council takes complaints from residents very seriously and where appropriate will take action against anyone causing disturbance.”
