FORMER Reaseheath College student James Bebbington, 18, celebrated his rise to senior kayaking with a performance that made him the top British competitor.
James is currently enjoying his first year as a member of the GB senior men's Freestyle Kayaking team, and he left this week for a two month World Cup series in the kayaking hot spots of America and Canada.
He hopes that practicing in these massively competitive environments will prepare him for the World Championship in Ottawa, Canada.
After that he is set to compete in the British Freestyle Kayaking Championships in October, followed by the GB team selection for the following year.
James said of the testing sport: "Unfortunately freestyle kayaking is not an Olympic sport yet, but it's already being taken very seriously in America and it's big in France - there were over 2,000 people watching us."
