VIRGIN Rail's promise to upgrade Bank Quay station is most welcome as it has always one of the bleakest stations on the Inter-City line.
However, not only is it in need of revamping but it requires to be made accessible to the general public. It requires a local bus service to run at frequent intervals to and from the station for those who do not have their own transport, as well as greatly improved facilities for those who do. The present parking facilities for those dropping off and picking up are negligible.
Let us hope the local authorities will play their part in improving the link with the town.
