THE chalk and cheese relationship between John Dorahy and Alex Murphy did work but the success their partnership deserved never followed.
Few people believed Dorahy and Murphy could work together when they arrived at Wilderspool in January 1996.
But they turned a relegation-haunted centenary season side in to top four prospects in the first season of Super League - a remarkable achievement in itself!
Dorahy said: "It is one thing that will stick in my mind, myself and Alex proving everyone wrong.
"No one allowed for our strength in character.
"Alex is one of the best blokes I have worked with in Rugby League.
"He has been an absolute rock for me over the 14 months.
"I would trust Alex with everything I own and even my family.
"He is one of life's gentlemen and it has been a pleasure working with him. It has also been a pleasure to work with the club chairman Peter Higham."
