WARRINGTON RSPCA is appealing to GUARDIAN readers to help Eric, an abandoned Alsatian.

The four-year-old dog was taken to the Slutchers Lane rescue centre by Wigan police after a member of the public picked him up off the streets.

He has been starved and is suffering from a skin infection which has caused most of his fur to fall out. He needs costly veterinary treatment and feeding before he can go to a new home and his carers think this will take at least eight months.

Anyone who can donate to Eric's care should contact the RSPCA on 632944.
