FURIOUS neighbours have joined forces in a bid to stop a landfill site being built near their homes.
More than 150 residents have objected to the proposal to build a mineral extraction and waste disposal site on land off Warburton Bridge Road, Rixton.
They claim the move would affect highway safety and mean a loss of important green belt land. They have now formed an action group to fight the application.
Clr Geoff Orange said: "Although the council is not the planning authority who will deal with this bid, it will do everything in its power to ensure residents' views are known.
"The application will be determined by Cheshire County Council's Minerals and Waste Planning Authority.
"Local residents are urged to let the borough council have their views in writing."
