KIND-HEARTED teenager Sarah Lockley has playing her part in helping to crack crime - by keeping her lips sealed for 24 hours!

For Sarah kept mum for an amazing 1,440 minutes to help raise money for computer equipment at her sister's school, Moor First School.

Computers and musical equipment worth more than £3,500 were stolen in February in the third raid on the Biddulph Moor School in five months.

Sarah, aged 11, was so upset at the raid at the school, where her sister Emma, aged eight, is a pupil, she decided to help.

She wrote a letter to Moor head Susan Mayes to say she would like to raise money towards a new computer, and staged a 24-hour sponsored silence for the school.

Sarah, a pupil at Woodhouse Middle School, raised £77.30 with her marathon, which she presented to a delighted Mrs Mayes.

"I want to say a big thankyou to Sarah from the school, and it is excellent that someone as young as she is should show such initiative,'' said Mrs Mayes.

"She did it off her own back, and the money will go towards replacing equipment.''

Sarah was sponsored by parents, friends and staff at Moor First School.
