A MAN has been charged with murder after a dying man was found on a Crewe street suffering from five stab wounds.

Gavin Rory Mitchell, aged 26, of Walthall Street, Crewe, appeared at Crewe Magistrates Courts on Tuesday charged with the murder of Jason Johnson.

Mr Johnson, aged 24, of Crewe, was found collapsed in Nile Street at 7.25pm on Friday.

The emergency services were called and he was rushed to Leighton Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A post mortem revealed that Mr Johnson, also known as "Jazzy", had died from massive internal bleeding, caused by three stab wounds to his stomach and two to his back.

Police sealed off Nile Street and Walthall Street immediately following the incident.

After the cordon was lifted on Sunday, floral tributes were left on the pavement where Mr Johnson was found.

No plea was offered by Mr Mitchell, and the case was adjourned for seven days.

Bail was refused, and reporting restrictions were not lifted.
