TWO helicopter passengers escaped injury when their aircraft plunged into a field near Winsford.
Police said the two seater helicopter fell from the skies in an accident reminscent of the Matthew Harding tragedy.
The Robinson RH22 helicopter was forced to crash land at 6.30pm on Sunday, on land between Wettenhall and Darnhall.
Passengers were on a brief operational flight to Liverpool Airport when they experienced difficulties.
They were later rescued when an aircraft from Liverpool arrived at the crash scene to pick them up.
A police spokesman, said: "The helicopter crash in Middlewich six months ago is still fresh in our minds.
"So our initial response is that it could be serious. When we hear of a helicopter crash we immediately expect the worse but in this case it wasn't that bad.
"Air accident investigators at Manchester Airport were informed within a couple of hours."
