TEN thousand schoolchildren from all parts of the north west and Merseyside will converge on the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall from Monday next week to take part in one of the biggest musical projects yet undertaken in Great Britain.

The Liverpool Phil, under the baton of Timothy Redmond, and Edinburgh Festival Fringe First winners Rejects Revenge will team up to perform Tom, Vic and Harry's Squashbuckling Adventure the latest in the Phil's Sounds Alive series of family concerts.

The week culminates with a public performance of the concert on Saturday next week.

RLPS Community Education Officer Jenny Isaacs told me : "Schools Concerts Week at the Phil enables many children to experience a live orchestra for the first time. The whole idea is to make classical music accessible."
