INWARD, the Warrington based agency for investment into the north west, has voted to become part of the proposed new Regional Development Agency.

The main board of INWARD has agreed to seek full integration, including staff and resources.

John Conlan, chairman of INWARD, said he welcomed the Board's backing for integration.

"It is extremely positive news for both INWARD and the region.

"This decision will ensure the continuity of handling inward investment projects, and is a positive step towards centralising the expertise necessary to attract inward investment to the north west.

"It will also reduce fragmentation and duplication of resources. We look forward to working with our partners in the RDA and the region at large, towards a promising and prosperous future for our region."

The Government's white paper on the creation of RDAs emphasised the important role of inward investment as a key function.

INWARD'S board and management is now commited to defining an operational structure which will enable it to fulfil its role from within the RDA.
