SHERIA Lawrenson, one of the girls killed in a fatal car crash near Skipton in Yorkshire, was three months pregnant when she died.

Her mum, Linda, of Winifred Street, who is devastated about her daughter's death, is now mourning the loss of what would have been her first grandchild.

As reported in the GUARDIAN MIDWEEK, Sheria, aged 19, was in Yorkshire on a day trip with two friends, Hayley Urquhart, aged 31, of Maple Crescent, Penketh, and Andrew Mitchell, aged 31, of Marshall Avenue, Dallam. All three died instantly when the Ford Orion in which they were travelling was in collision with a Renault Laguna on the A59 between Clitheroe and Skipton.

A 62-year-old passenger in the Renault also died and three other occupants of the car were seriously injured.

Linda said: "Sheria and I had joked for years about her having a baby. She used to come in and say she was pregnant to try and shock me and then we would laugh about it.

"Last week she said again that she was pregnant and I just laughed and said 'not again.'

"When the police said there would be a post-mortem, I asked them to tell me if Sheria was pregnant. I had a feeling that this time she was.

"I just can't believe it."

Linda says the response from her friends and neighbours has been brilliant. They have all rallied round to help her and her family.

"I want to thank everyone who has sent cards," she said, "And especially Sheria's cousin, Tina Paget, and her mum Christine, who were always there for Sheria when she was alive."

Sheria's funeral takes place on Monday, March 2 at 12 noon at St Alban's Church, Bewsey Road, and Fox Covert Cemetery at 1pm. All are welcome.
