RUNCORN bridge had to be closed yet again in the early hours of Friday after a man scaled it and threatened to jump.
The bridge was sealed off for four hours from 2am when police were called to talk the man down.
He had reached his position by use of climbing equipment. When the emergency services tried to convince him to get back on the ground, he began throwing things at them.
He eventually clambered to safety of his own volition. Police detained him under mental health legislation and he was taken to Warrington Hospital.
The bridge was reopened to traffic by 7am.
