IN RECENT weeks I have read the many letters that have been exchanged between Councillor Black and Councillor Mawer. Councillor Mawer seems to want answers to sensible questions, any thought to demolish or not to include the high level crossing in Latchford of the Manchester Ship Canal is madness when we have three antiquated swing bridges that need urgent replacement.

The Chester Road swing bridge in particular is very dangerous for pedestrians who cross it daily, especially as it only has one small footpath and no road crossing. We have been told by a councillor that someone would have to be killed before any improvements are considered.

In recent weeks I have had in my possesion an official outline plan which includes a proposed new swing bridge, west of Moore, but I'm afraid this is to bring in other town's waste and not for the benefit of our population.

Carry on Councillor Mawer, keep asking questions!
