POLICE are hoping their hunt for warehouse thieves doesn't crumble after the sweet-toothed criminals escaped with thousands of Cadbury's Flakes.

The Flake-loving felons stole 32,000 boxes from a unit at the Trident Industrial Estate, Risley, last weekend.

The also escaped with more than 8,000 interactive Liverpool FC CD-Roms from the warehouse.

Detective Sergeant Gary Brooks said: "We believed the thieves used an articulated lorry to remove the goods after breaking into the unit.

"It would have taken them a considerable time to load the lorry and we would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious over the weekend," he said.

The Flakes are the miniature variety used in ice creams and are packaged in distinctive yellow boxes.

Officers believe that the thieves will now be attempting to sell the goods in the Merseyside area.

The latest theft is just one of several high-value raids on Warrington's industrial estates which has resulted in the disappearance of hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of goods.
