A PLAYWRIGHT is celebrating a performance of her latest work at one of the region's most prestigious theatres.

Sue Dodd's aptly timed political drama An Issue Of Public Standards debuted at the Chester Gateway this week. The Stockton Heath councillor wrote the play unaware that her plot about scandals in a politician's private life would reflect the latest Government goings-on.

Sue, of Fairfield Road, said: "It is about an MP who may or may not be cheating on his wife. It was written before the current scandal but it has turned out to be rather topical."

Former drama teacher Sue, aged 50, has been writing for years and joined a writing group at the Chester theatre two years ago. She has already had a five minute play performed at the theatre and the talented writer scooped a runners-up place in the Warrington Playwriters competition.

"I've always liked to write. Comedy comes quite naturally but writing drama is very rewarding because you get to explore the characters," she said.

Sue runs her own creative writing group at the Garrick Theatre, Altrincham, every Thursday, from 7.30pm. For more information, contact 01925 601085.
