TOP athlete Matthew Barnes received a cup to mark his outstanding success in the penthathlon.
Matthew, aged 21, from Waggs Road, Congleton, is the current British junior champion for the modern pentathlon.
He is pictured receiving a trophy from South Cheshire Health Authority chairman Simon Cussons in recognition of his achievement.
He also received a £500 cheque from Mr Cussons as part of the authority's sports and fitness achievement awards.
Matthew is studying at Oxford University, and represented Great Britain last summer at the European and world junior championships.
