CYCLING fans Anne Scrase and Ruth Reeves have helped Congleton Borough Council land a national environmental award.
The women organised an event aimed at promoting cycling which caught the eye of the judges of the Green Apple awards, which are run by the Green Organisation.
Cycle for a Century featured cycle rides and displays, as well as gas-powered vehicles and cyber bikes.
Anne and Ruth organised the event from the council offices in Alsager, and the cycling initiative was the basis for the council's entry for the awards, winning a bronze award in its category.
