EDDIE Forkgen, training and safety manager with Business Express, Warrington, has been awarded the national title "Investor in People UK Key Champion" for leading his company's Investors in People programme. Business Express's entire UK network of 32 depots, two sort centres and central vehicle maintenance garage has been awarded the IIP.
Eddie received his award from Michael Bichard, permanent secretary at the Department of Education and Employment.
A trained engineer, Eddie served in the Merchant Navy. He later trained in safety and training management, and joined the Engineering Employers' Association, where he created and managed a Youth Training Scheme programme. He has also worked as senior contracts manager with a Lancashire based TEC.
Eddie is a registered Safety Practitioner, a member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, the International Institute of Risk and Safety Managers and the Institute of Personnel and Development.
