FANCY yourself as a practical gardener or expert reviewer of 20th century classics? Then the Warrington WEA is the answer you're looking for.

Welcoming 1999 in style, the Workers' Educational Authority is offering several new courses to build on students' experience, knowledge and enthusiasm.

"Practical Gardening" for green-fingered enthusiasts will be led by Tom Acton, the retired head gardener of Arley Hall, and "20th Century Classics" aims to look at writers from the post-World War Two period, including George Orwell, William Golding and Ted Hughes.

Other courses include "Better Bridge" - teaching the techniques of the game from basic to advanced level, and "Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty" aiming to give appreciation of eight such areas from the North Pennines to the Cotswolds.

There's no need to worry about final exams - there aren't any - and shared study allows students to increase their understanding to a level they wish.

Courses are taking place throughout the day at various venues in the Warrington area. For further details, contact Mrs. Mary Hands on 01925 823 827.
